Habakkuk 3:17-19 (NLT2)
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.
1. THE MOTHER’S INFLUENCE OF PROTECTION
Matthew 23:37 (NKJV) “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!
Matthew 10:28 (NKJV) And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
2. THE MOTHER’S INFLUENCE OF PERIMETERS
First, give them guidelines and rules
Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
Next, give them responsibilities and consequences
How to raise a juvenile delinquent:
Give them everything they want
Pick up everything they leave around the house
Take their side when they get in trouble at school
Then prepare yourself for a lifetime of grief
3. THE MOTHER’S INFLUENCE OF PRAYER
Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
4. THE MOTHER’S INFLUENCE OF FUTURE POSSIBILITIES
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Teach your children to be all GOD WANTS THEM TO BE!
